The first thing I noticed when I stepped off the bus home from work was how foggy it was. It was thick and the light was being diffused really well. Its been a long time since I’ve seen fog like this.
I got home at like 9:30pm. I was selling my old GPU to a guy next to a Timmies close by, so I grabbed my camera and headed there. I gave the guy the card, got my monies, and chatted for a bit. What took me by utter surprise was when I asked him what his CPU was, he had to check his phone and read off a ChatGPT response. I didn’t mind the AI consultation, what was funny was how bad the response was. That was an awful CPU to pair with the GPU I just sold him. I mentioned that he’d be heavily CPU bottlenecked and continued on my way. Oh well, it’s his GPU now, not my problem.
Anyways, coming back to the walk. I didn’t really go anywhere special. It was already super late so who knows if I’d have a way to come back home later without any buses out. So I decided to head to a small shopping plaza close by and just walk around.

This was a bit of a warm up shot. It was my first time doing night time photography with the α6000. So I decided to put everything in manual. Stuck the ISO to 500, set the aperture to as low as it goes, 1.7, and the shutter speed to however much I needed depending on the situation. I mostly shot on 1/80 so I could walk and shoot. The first ones I took were at 1/60.

I really like the old car in this. I saw it and before I could even think, I was already getting the composition ready and holding the shutter for focus. I wasn’t shooting on burst mode so I had to make it perfect. Idk I just don’t like the clutter of having hundreds of photos to sort through.

The fog made all the streetlights scatter beautifully. I love how the cyan and red traffic lights bleed into the wet pavement here. I’m so glad the rain stopped. This camera is soo not water proof.

There’s this really nice spot where the highway goes over the road. It’s lined with really warm lights. I think I got a few good shots of it.

Just watching the cars disappear into the fog under the overpass felt so moody. Like a photo straight out of a street in Night City.

I continued walking towards the plaza. Fast food joints and grocery stores always have that eerie, glowing beacon vibe on nights like this. Zehrs sure is cutting through the absolute darkness. I’m honestly surprised there’s still this many cars out, guess people really love their late night snacks.

Random shots. This was the point where I started heading back.

I was feeling a little craving, so I stopped by the plaza’s McD’s for an Oreo McFlurry to eat on the walk back. I know, eating ice cream at like 5°C on a rainy night isn’t an average person’s idea of a good time, but I was really craving it. Plus, come on, it was foggy, it was moody. This is prime ice cream weather.

On the way back, I noticed the fog had gotten even thicker. It was hard to see anything beyond a few dozen meters. I was done with my ice cream by then so I just walked home.
