Reading Solo Leveling often reminded me of that one manhwa about a lazy bum who got isekaied to another world in which he was crazy powerful. This shared a lot of things with it.

If you asked me makes solo levelling special though. My answer would be in its progression. The title didn’t drag on too much to dilute powering up to the point it’s meaningless like in dragon ball and it didn’t cut it short and sacrifice that oh-so-special power fantasy either. This managed to hit a weird balance.

For a fantasy, I really loved the whole story. Even though the whole story revolves around our protag, I mean come on, almost every other character was cannon fodder, the story didn’t seem irrelevant. Though I didn’t feel loved, the world was interesting. The enemies were pretty cool too. It’s good this toned the gamey feeling down and down as the manhwa progressed. If it were out in the forefront, it would have definitely been a pain to read.

After I started reading, I simply couldn’t stop. I was reading this before going to sleep. I was reading this while I was eating. I was even reading this whole I was sweating absurdly with no electricity. This is pretty fucking addictive. Considering how fast-paced this is, no wonder I couldn’t let it out of my sight. The last time I felt this into a title was for Mother of Learning. It took me like 20 days to finish that so I would’ve loved it if solo levelling were a wee bit longer too but oh well, you can’t have everything.
