Kaiju No. 8 is one of the few shows where it just feels way too short. It doesn’t feel like I just watched 11 episodes in one sitting. It feels like I just watched one movie, maybe even less than that. The pacing is so balls to the wall full of action that there’s never a moment where I go; maybe I should watch the rest later on. Nope. I would’ve binged a 24 episode No. 8 even if i had to sacrifice my whole sleep schedule to do it. That’s how addictive this show is. Truly a treat to watch. This season didn’t make me as hyped as I was watching the first season but it sure as hell had the same vibes. I liked it, even though there were times where I would’ve liked a little bit more intimacy and expression by the characters. Because the show tries a lot to show us how the common man sees the Kaiju attacks, giving us a glimpse into the slice of life of living in a world tarnished by these monsters. I wish the show did a bit more in that regard. Because the main characters always seemed a little bit too isolated from the rest of the world even when we see that some of them went through the same system to get to the places they are right now.
