tldr; fuck this show
There is a type of show that is so bad that it’s just bad. It doesn’t even have the charm that turns it into a good sort of bad that makes it funny. It doesn’t even have that potential to be good. I can’t even imagine how this would be good because it’s bad on so many counts.
I’m not sure how it got made, honestly. Not only does the story feel sloppy, but it also feels lazy. It’s as if the author ran out of brain output tokens halfway through generating the story, so they had to glue the individual parts together to make it at least make sense. I don’t think watching the dub made it any better.
I honestly thought this would take an edgy dark approach, but in reality, it just turned into a harem halfway down the line. At least have the audacity to start with a harem if that’s where you’re going to lead into eventually.
The only reason I kept watching and didn’t drop it was because I wanted to know what would happen when the childhood friend finally made contact with protag-kun.
What I hate is how the show keeps on saying that his old party members hate him, but we never get to see him drag them down. We don’t ever see a justification for their hate. They’re always complaining, but it just feels like they’re being used as mouthpieces to move the plot along. They don’t feel like characters at all.
